NIA has received 484,000 blank cards, and fresh registrations will begin on August 28
The National Identification Authority (NIA) has stated that it would restart free registration and issue of Ghana Cards to first-time applicants aged 15 and up.
The exercise will be restarted in eight of the sixteen zones.
The NIA received 484,000 blank cards from its technical partners, necessitating the continuation of the activity.
“The resumption of this registration exercise has become possible due to NIA’s receipt of 484,000 blank cards from its technical partners, Identity Management Systems II Limited (IMS II) and CalBank PLC following an initiative by the Ministry of Finance. By this development, eligible Ghanaians who have not yet registered for the Ghana Card can do so,” the NIA said in a statement.
NIA has also addressed and implemented two steps to ensure a seamless registration process.
Phase one will be a ten-day restricted registration period for public sector workers on the Government of Ghana (GoG) payroll.
This restricted exercise will begin on Monday, August 28, 2023, and will terminate on Friday, September 8, 2023.
“The second phase will begin on Monday, 11th September 2023 for all Ghanaians aged 15 years and above who have not yet applied for the Ghana Card. During Phase Two, Ghanaians wishing to replace their lost, stolen, or damaged Ghana Cards or to correct their names or dates of birth may do so in accordance with law at any of the NIA’s 286 Operational Offices nationwide offering free registration.”
A unique mobile service has also been implemented for homes with five or more persons who want to obtain the Ghana Card in order to bring the NIA team home to be registered for a cost.
These services enable families with five or more Ghanaians, as well as organisations with 50 or more Ghanaians, to request registration services at a specific home or place for a charge. The cost of Household Registration is GH150.00 per application, whereas Institutional Registration is GH100.00 per applicant, plus logistical expenses.

Hogan, whose actual name is Terry Bollea, is married for the third time. From 1983 to 2007, he was married to Linda, the mother of his two children, Brooke and Nick.
In 2010, he married Jennifer McDaniel, but the pair split in 2021.
Hogan and Daily, a yoga instructor, revealed their engagement at the wedding of their friends Corin Nemec and Sabrina Nova in July.

Another reason for Harry’s projected birthday snub might be that the Royal family has changed the criteria for birthday posts, with only senior working members now being publicly acknowledged.
Meanwhile, Harry looked to be in good spirits as he celebrated his pre-birthday with Meghan and the Archewell crew at a typical German restaurant.
