President Putin will not attend the burial of Wagner commander Prigozhin – Russian Government
According to Russian official media, Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the burial of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the mercenary chief who led a failed rebellion against Russia’s military leadership and perished in an aircraft accident last week.
According to the New York Times, the Kremlin’s spokesperson, Dmitri S. Peskov, stated that the Kremlin had no more information on the funeral.
The date of the event, as well as whether the public would be permitted to attend, were unknown.
A private plane carrying Prigozhin and nine other people crashed northwest of Moscow on Wednesday, killing everyone on board, but his death was not officially confirmed until Sunday when Russian investigators said genetic testing revealed that the crash victims matched the names on the plane’s manifest.
After days of discussion over whether Prigozhin was truly on the plane, the confirmation came.
The reason for the accident is unknown, however, officials in the United States and Europe suspect it was caused by an explosion on board. Many Western officials believe Mr. Putin may have played a part in having Mr. Prigozhin assassinated as retaliation for the mercenary chief’s brief revolt in June.
Prigozhin — a Putin confidant turned “traitor” — was killed last Wednesday two months after ordering his troops to topple Russia’s military leadership, in what observers deemed the biggest challenge to Putin’s authority since he came to power.
“The president’s presence is not envisaged,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Tuesday when asked whether Putin would attend the funeral.
There have been no public announcements of when or where Prigozhin, who was 62, will be buried.
“We have no information specifically about the funeral. The decision in this regard is made by family and friends,” Peskov added.
Putin hailed Prigozhin last week as a guy who had made “serious mistakes in his life, but he achieved the right results.”
The Kremlin has denied that the accident was staged in retaliation for Wagner’s march on Moscow in June.
Hulk Hogan, the WWE icon famed for his characteristic tights and flamboyant demeanour, married for the third time on Friday, swapping his trademark gear for a tuxedo to marry fiancée Sky Daily in Florida.
Close relatives and friends, including Hogan’s son Nick and Daily’s three children, attended the modest wedding at Indian Rocks Baptist Church.
Hogan, 70, wore a typical black tuxedo, while Daily, 45, wore a beautiful white wedding gown and diamond-encrusted 18-karat white gold jewellery. According to TMZ, the pair swapped $500,000 rings.
“My new life starts now!” On Instagram, Hogan posted a video of the day.
Hogan, whose actual name is Terry Bollea, is married for the third time. From 1983 to 2007, he was married to Linda, the mother of his two children, Brooke and Nick.
In 2010, he married Jennifer McDaniel, but the pair split in 2021.
Hogan and Daily, a yoga instructor, revealed their engagement at the wedding of their friends Corin Nemec and Sabrina Nova in July.

Another reason for Harry’s projected birthday snub might be that the Royal family has changed the criteria for birthday posts, with only senior working members now being publicly acknowledged.
Meanwhile, Harry looked to be in good spirits as he celebrated his pre-birthday with Meghan and the Archewell crew at a typical German restaurant.
